Universal Security Systems maintains a significant capital equipment inventory to allow for exacting installation and rapid and efficient service.
Universal Security Systems owns aerial lifts with capabilities up to 46’. These include both truck mounted units, self propelled articulated booms and indoor scissor lifts. Universal’s array of aerial devices includes 4wd for all terrain use in remote sites or construction sites, insulated units for in close proximity to energized lines and material handling units for installation of poles and heavy objects on poles. Universal utilizes its own aerial lifts to maximize employee safety, provide improved reliability through maintainace which in turn minimizes spills and leaks and to provide faster service response not available through vendors who rely on rental equipment that may or may not be available. Universal also maintains resources in house to provide immediate transportation of this equipment anywhere in the New York metro area.
Universal also owns site storage trailers to provide temporary on-site storage for on larger projects. These allow for safe, cosmetically appealing storage of equipment and materials. The use of these trailers minimizes trip hazards, restricts access to chemicals that may be utilized as part of the project and allows for more efficient installations through on site storage instead of daily transport.
Universal utilizes a fleet of heavy duty fully equipped service and installation vehicles. Efficiency in installation and service is achieved through the improved availability of parts and tools that is made possible by these vehicles. These vehicles all include inverter based power system to allow for installation or service where AC power may not be available of may not be functioning. This has proven a key requirement on many new construction sites and minimizes the use of portable generators which need to be fueled on site and are a common source of spills and leaks. Some of the service vehicles are equipped for all terrain use including four wheel drive and winches to allow for safe access to remote sites such as power transmission lines.
Universal’s Construction Services Group utilizes its own dump trucks (15-33k GVW), backhoes, mini-excavators (with breaker and auger attachments), skid-steers, jackhammers, cement saws, conduit benders and threaders, core drills and similar heavy equipment. The use of Universal personnel and equipment to perform both infrastructure installation for electronic security systems and physical security system installation improves both installation and service effectiveness. Installations are quicker as scheduling and coordination of multiple vendors is no longer required and the client also has confidence that all personnel on the site have been properly safety certified and background checked. Service effectiveness and response is improved as all requests can be immediately handled without having to wait for or locate a subcontractor to perform specific tasks.
Universal also maintains an up to date inventory of electronic test equipment including Ethernet network analyzers, fiber optic loss testers, fiber optic time domain reflectometers, coaxial and twisted pair time domain reflectometers, RF field analyzers and oscilloscopes. All of these powerful test tools are portable and designed for in the field testing and troubleshooting. This test equipment allows for rapid troubleshooting and system restoration in the event of cable damage, RF interference or network connectivity problems.
